A House for Henry

Henry is an elderly man living in a quiet back alley near Nichols Elementary School. His house is being rebuilt by the Hope Community Development Agency using federal hurricane recovery funds. He asked for very little, just a small, comfortable house with a nice place to sit outside and spend time with friends.

A slightly higher 9-foot ceiling will make the living room feel more spacious and distinct from the rest of the house.

Christian Aid Ministries was the primary building partner during the framing of the house. These experienced volunteers quickly framed, sheathed, and wrapped the building, installed roofing, siding, windows, and doors, and built the porches, ramp, and stairs.

The house is currently being painted and the trades (electricity, plumbing, HVAC) are at work inside in preparation for drywall.
